On 25th April 2016, AIS once again held their Annual Conference at the Forest of Arden Marriott Hotel & Country Club.

The AIS team organised a very strong programme to encompass this year’s theme ‘Looking Forward, Not Back’. A simple theme that is not always easy to put into practice but, with the knowledge and expertise of today’s speakers, delegates were sure to be inspired to look to the future and embrace change.

The day’s events began with economist and strategist Roger Martin-Fagg who delivered both an economic outlook and what organisations should do to prepare.

‘Business Communicator of the Year’, Geoff Burch, was next to present and he also embraced the challenge of looking forward with the emphasis on change. Geoff is a specialist in this area who practises what he preaches and has entrepreneurship in his blood.

The morning closed with Nick Wheeler who, as the founder of Charles Tyrwhitt, has successfully embodied and applied the principles of learning from the past to inform the future sharing his own business experiences with our delegates.

In a change to the advertised schedule, Sir Clive Woodward delivered an excellent keynote presentation on the ‘DNA of a Champion’.

David Sanderson joined Sky three years ago to lead the Sky AdSmart Local and Development team.

The afternoon sessions chaired by Matthew Hatton from MediaCom were all about the fast moving pace of media.
Other speakers included:

  • Matthew Hatton - Director responsible for all commercial and trading agreements across MediaCom North Group
  • Neil Dulake - Industry Head for Google’s retail sector and works with most of the UK’s leading multi-channel and fashion retailers
  • Michael McIntyre - Group Business Director for Global Radio the owners of Heart, Smooth, Capital, LBC, Radio X and Classic FM radio.
  • David Sanderson - Joined Sky three years ago to lead the Sky AdSmart Local and Development team.

The day was facilitated by Philip Hesketh who, once again made a welcome return

The following day, Tom Grocott, Head of Social Media at McCann conducted an entertaining and informative workshop on the fast paced and ever changing topic of Social Media, thus providing a greater understanding of the topic.
